Padova Italia

A new country in my card collection, yes this one came from Padova in Italia.
Padua (Padova) is a citu in the North of Italia, and the capital of the same province Padua.

The city has a really long history, begun with the mythic foundation through Trojan Antenor. It's also the birdplace of the historian Livius. Padua, the Roman Patavian, was during the migration was successively distroyed by the Visigoths (409 AD); the Huns (452); the Ostrogoths (543) and the Lombarts (610). In the Middle Ages the town belonged to the German Holy Roman Empire, but she was from the 12th century on a free city (Comune Libero). In 1174 Padua was distroyed by a big fire, after which the city was almost entirely rebuild. Of great significance for the city was the foundation of the university (1222, in 1238 by Emperor Frederick II expanded), considered the cradle of humanism can be considered. In 1545 it was here the Orti di botanico Padavo founded, the oldest Hortus Botanicus of Europe. Galileo Galilei held a professorship form 1590 to 1610.
